Overland Park, KS -- Wireless industry innovators Sprint, the first U.S. carrier to introduce next generation services nationwide known as PCS VisionSM, and Samsung Telecommunications America, today announced nationwide availability of the PCS Phone by Samsung SPH-i330. This fully integrated Vision Capable Device combines a PCS Full Color screen, the functionality of the Palm OS platform and the clarity of a PCS Phone in one. The new smart device is similar to its predecessor, the PCS Phone by Samsung SPH-i300, but features the advanced capabilities and enhanced speeds of PCS Vision in a more slender, refined handheld form factor to provide a productivity tool with even more power.

"After launching the first color Palm OS-based wireless phone in North America with Samsung last year, we are thrilled to now introduce the next generation model -- the PCS Phone by Samsung SPH-i330," said Phil Bowman, vice president, business marketing, PCS Division, Sprint.

"Sprint continues to lead the market in providing innovative, functional and integrated devices that allow customers to do everything from surfing the Web to checking their calendars to accessing their personal and corporate email on a single device. The i330 is the latest PCS Vision enabled smart device offered as part of the PCS Clear Wireless Workplace to help customers make clear calls, stay connected and be productive anywhere on the enhanced Sprint Nationwide PCS Network."

The i330 features a large 160 x 240 pixel, 256-color touch screen panel display that allows customers to navigate pop-up screen menus and view HTML Web sites with the Handspring Blazer(tm) multi-mode browser. Customers can take advantage of the i330's fast, always-on data connection to access personal and corporate email, and browse the Web via the enhanced Sprint Nationwide PCS Network. Introduced nationwide in August 2002, the CDMA2000 network supports data speeds averaging 50 to 70 Kbps, with peak speeds of 144 Kbps.

"With the SPH-i330 by Samsung, consumers will find a sleek, compact handheld device that handles both their voice and data needs with ease," said Peter Skarzynski, senior vice president of wireless terminals, Samsung. "The 3G data capabilities of the enhanced Sprint Nationwide PCS Network, along with the advanced features of Samsung's wireless phone technology and PalmSource's operating system, make the i330 a great tool for users who always need to have information at their fingertips."

With16 MB of memory, the i330 enables customers to utilize Palm OS features to schedule meetings, check phone numbers and reference downloaded emails while talking on the phone. The i330 is compatible with nearly all of the 15,000 Palm OS applications available today, so customers can download applications that fit their specific business, learning or entertainment needs. Customers will also be able to take advantage of the following PCS Vision applications:

Web -- PCS Vision provides an improved Web experience with full-color graphic versions of popular Internet sites.

Messaging -- PCS Vision makes wireless messaging services an extension of the desktop experience, enabling POP 3 email, instant messaging and wireless chat.

PCS Business ConnectionSM -- Get fast, secure, remote access to Microsoft Outlook or Lotus Notes information. Designed to meet the needs of both large mobile workforces or individuals, customers will be able to read and compose email, navigate company directories and personal contacts, access work calendars and send meeting requests. Because access is in real time, you won't have to wait until you're in the office to sync information. To learn more, visit www.businessconnection.sprintpcs.com.

The i330 features a slim, modern and lightweight design that fits comfortably in your hand. Weighing less than six ounces with the standard battery, the dual-band/tri-mode i330 is light and compact enough to allow for maximum portability. The phone has a digital talk time of 170 minutes, with a standby time of 174 hours. With hot keys featured on the side of the device, the i330 is designed for easy, one-handed dialing, allowing customers to dial numbers from their phonebook without using the stylus. In addition to a categorized phonebook, permitting several phone entries for one contact, the i330 offers speakerphone capabilities with the option to mute conversations during calls.

Additional timesaving features on the i330 include voice-activated dialing, voice memo, speed dial and call logs. For added convenience, users can input data using the Graffiti writing area on the touch screen panel display.

The i330 comes standard with a CD that includes Palm OS Desktop software, PocketMirror conduit software for Microsoft Outlook, Palm OS Game Pack and Phone Off Images, as well as a Weblink to PCS Business Connection(sm) Personal Edition. Additional Palm OS software and applications -- including ringers, screensavers, images and icons, as well as business productivity suites -- are available on the PCS Software Store at http://sprint.handango.com, accessible via desktop computers and the default homedeck on the i330. The device is also packaged with a standard and extended battery, a dual-slot charger and sync cradle, leather case and travel charger.
